Designed around your bedroom.

Fitted sliding wardrobes, bespoke to your bedroom

These are fitted sliding wardrobes: a made-to-measure carcass scribed to your walls, floor and ceiling, with bespoke doors running across the front. They are not an off-the-shelf door kit fitted into an existing opening, which is a different product at a different price. Sliding doors need no clearance to open, so they suit a room where the space in front of the wardrobe has to stay clear.

Based in Bromsgrove, Stuart Crawford brings over 10 years of industry experience to homes across Worcestershire and the surrounding region.

Plan the doors and storage together

Sliding doors move across the front of the wardrobe, so their positions affect which areas you can reach at once. We consider the door arrangement and internal compartments together to make daily use straightforward.

Space in front of the wardrobe

A sliding arrangement can help where a bed or another piece of furniture sits nearby. We still consider access, movement and room for drawers to open.

Access behind each door

The internal layout should work with the door positions. Hanging sections, shelves and drawers need to remain practical when part of the front is covered.

A finish that belongs

Discuss the door style and finish alongside the rest of your room. The available options and any combinations will be confirmed as part of the design.

Useful internal storage

Choose a starting balance of hanging, shelves and drawers based on your belongings. We can then work through suitable dimensions and fittings.

Check how the room is used

The first conversation helps us understand the room and what you want to change. Any photographs or rough measurements are useful starting points; the design and specification are agreed around the actual space.

Useful details to share

  • Note the distance between the proposed wardrobe and the bed.
  • Think about which storage areas you need to access together.
  • Include sockets, skirting and other features in room photographs.
  • Discuss tracks, fittings and care when reviewing the specification.

Finish the design your way

Discuss knobs, handles, lighting and internal fittings alongside your furniture. These details affect how the wardrobe looks and works, and can be considered with the other finishes in your bedroom.

Your questions answered

Are sliding doors suitable for a smaller bedroom?

They can help where hinged-door clearance is limited. Suitability still depends on the available width, depth and access around the wardrobe, which we will review with you.

Can I have drawers inside a sliding wardrobe?

Drawers can be considered, provided the door arrangement gives them enough clearance to open. Their position is planned alongside the sliding doors.

Who actually makes the furniture?

Every project is designed and managed by Crawford Bespoke Interiors, with the components precision-manufactured to our drawings by trusted specialist partners. We check the work before it is professionally installed to our standards, so there is one point of responsibility from the first visit to the last adjustment.

Can you match furniture across more than one room?

Yes, and it is usually worth planning it together. Working across rooms at once keeps finishes, handles and proportions consistent, and it tends to be more efficient than coming back for each room separately.

What if my room has a sloping ceiling?

Sloping ceilings are one of the strongest arguments for made-to-measure. The carcasses are cut to the angle so the awkward low section becomes usable storage rather than dead space.

How much do fitted sliding wardrobes cost?

A fitted sliding wardrobe, with bespoke doors on a made-to-measure carcass, is typically £4,000 to £8,000 supplied and installed. Where a project sits in that range depends on the width of the run, the door material and finish, and what goes inside. Our guide prices and timescales cover the other project types, and the first design visit is free.

Are sliding doors more expensive than hinged doors?

They usually start higher. A comparable single-wall run is £3,000 to £7,500 with hinged doors against £4,000 to £8,000 with sliding, because the doors are larger panels and the track and running gear are a cost in their own right. What you get for the difference is floor space, since nothing swings out into the room. See fitted wardrobes for the hinged alternative.

What is the difference between fitted sliding wardrobes and sliding wardrobe doors?

Sliding wardrobe doors are sold as a kit to fit across an existing alcove or opening, and the space behind them stays as it was. A fitted sliding wardrobe is designed as one piece of furniture: the carcass, the interior and the doors are drawn for your room and scribed to it, so there are no gaps at the sides or over the top and the inside is laid out for what you actually keep in it. We supply the second.
