Face-frame or full-carcass?

Both approaches can form part of a fitted wardrobe design. The right starting point depends on your room, the interior finish you want and the proposed layout. We will explain the construction and specification before you choose.

Face-frame wardrobes

A fitted front frame and doors can be combined with storage arranged within the available recess. The surrounding walls and the proposed internal finish need to be considered as part of the design.

Full-carcass wardrobes

A cabinet construction can provide defined sides, bases and internal compartments. We discuss how the cabinetry will fit the room and the effect on usable storage space.

A useful interior layout

Balance hanging space with shelves and drawers. Longer clothes, folded items, shoes and seasonal belongings each need a place that is easy to reach.

Doors that suit the room

Think about the style, colour and opening space around your bed and other furniture. Knobs, handles and lighting can be selected alongside the overall design.

Start with what you need to store

The first conversation helps us understand the room and what you want to change. Any photographs or rough measurements are useful starting points; the design and specification are agreed around the actual space.

Useful details to share

  • List the clothes and belongings you want to keep in the wardrobe.
  • Consider full-length hanging alongside shorter hanging sections.
  • Note sockets, radiators and any uneven walls or ceilings.
  • Bring examples of door styles and finishes you like.

Finish the design your way

Discuss knobs, handles, lighting and internal fittings alongside your furniture. These details affect how the wardrobe looks and works, and can be considered with the other finishes in your bedroom.

Your questions answered

What is the difference between face-frame and full-carcass wardrobes?

Face-frame construction centres on a fitted front frame, while full-carcass cabinetry includes a more enclosed cabinet structure. Internal linings and fittings vary by design, so we will explain exactly what the proposed specification includes.

Can I choose the internal layout?

Yes. We discuss the mix of rails, shelves and drawers around your belongings. The final layout depends on the space, fittings and construction agreed for your room.

What finishes can I choose from?

Painted, sprayed and timber finishes are all available, along with a range of handles and internal fittings. We go through the options in the room itself during the design visit, where you can see them in the actual light.

How disruptive is the installation?

Fitting is done room by room and the space is protected while we work. Most single-room projects are installed in a few days, and we tidy as we go rather than leaving it all to the end.

Can lighting be built into the furniture?

Yes — internal lighting and sensor-operated strips can be designed in. It is worth raising early, because it affects how the carcassing is built and where cabling needs to run.
