Made to measure, locally

Fitted Furniture for Dorridge Homes

Crawford Bespoke Interiors designs and fits bespoke furniture for homes across Dorridge, a settled commuter village with a strong sense of its own identity. With large detached houses, 1930s builds and generously sized modern family homes in the area, most rooms benefit from something made for them rather than bought to fit.

Our base is in Bromsgrove, an easy drive out through Solihull. We draw and specify the furniture, trusted specialist partners precision-manufacture the components, and it is installed to our standards. There is no charge for the design visit and no obligation afterwards.

Fitted furniture for every room

The work below covers most of what we are asked for in Dorridge. In practice, plenty of projects run across several rooms at once.

Wardrobes and dressing rooms

A run of fitted wardrobes built to the room’s real dimensions, or a dressing room where there is space to walk in and turn round. In Dorridge, where large detached houses, 1930s builds and generously sized modern family homes are typical, the arrangement inside is usually what makes the difference.

Media walls and fitted living rooms

A media wall designed around the screen size and seating position, with the clutter that usually surrounds a television built in and out of sight.

Desks, studies and work space

A proper home office — desk, drawers, shelving and cable management — whether it has its own room or shares one.

Alcove units, shelving and joinery

Alcove shelving and cupboards, built to the recess rather than packed out with filler, plus boot rooms, window seats and understairs joinery.

Made for the way Dorridge homes are built

Many Dorridge houses have been extended over the years, which tends to leave behind the sort of stepped ceilings, boxed pipework and leftover corners that only made-to-measure furniture can resolve tidily.

Measured for the room as it is

With large detached houses, 1930s builds and generously sized modern family homes, out-of-square corners and uneven floors are simply part of the job. Measuring the room as it really is — rather than as it should be — is what keeps the joins tight. Nearby, we work in Solihull, Knowle, Balsall Common too; the full list of areas we cover is here.

From first visit to installation

Nothing is ordered before you have seen drawings and a written quotation. The visit and the measuring are free, and we manage the making and the installation from start to finish.

Your questions answered

Can you work around an extension or a sloping ceiling?

Yes — that is one of the main reasons people choose fitted furniture. Everything is measured and made for the space as it actually is, including sloped ceilings, chimney breasts and boxed services.

Do you make furniture for rooms other than bedrooms?

We do. Media walls, home offices, alcove units, boot rooms and dining room storage are all part of the same service, and can be designed to a consistent finish across several rooms.

What happens at the first design visit?

We look at the room, measure it properly and talk through what the furniture needs to hold and how you use the space. It helps to have a rough idea of what is going in, but it is a conversation rather than a sales appointment.

Can I see examples of your work?

There are examples across the site, and our bespoke projects page shows one-off pieces in more detail. We can also talk through comparable projects during the design visit.

What if my room has a sloping ceiling?

Sloping ceilings are one of the strongest arguments for made-to-measure. The carcasses are cut to the angle so the awkward low section becomes usable storage rather than dead space.
