Materials & quality
Materials, hardware and finishes
The quality of the finished furniture starts with the materials, hardware and components used to build it. Bespoke furniture should not only look exceptional the day it is installed, it should keep working properly for years afterwards.
We work with established manufacturers, trusted British suppliers and specialist local suppliers wherever possible, choosing materials to suit the design, location, use and budget of each individual project.
Boards, timber and finishes
From understated neutrals and contemporary matt colours through to realistic woodgrains, stone effects and textured surfaces — and, where a factory colour will not do, a professional spray finish instead.
Egger decorative boards
One of the leading names in furniture materials, with more than 260 decors and over 95 finish and texture combinations. Used for cabinetry, shelving, drawer units, wardrobes, dressing rooms, offices and media units.
Real timber and solid wood
Where the design calls for it we use solid wood, veneers and natural finishes — particularly effective for feature shelving, worktops, slatted details, trims and statement pieces. Timber can be left natural, stained, oiled or lacquered.
Bespoke spray finishes
Furniture can be supplied unfinished and professionally prepared and spray finished, so you are not limited to standard colours. Match an existing interior, coordinate with a paint colour, or create something entirely your own.
Handles and finishing details
From discreet edge pulls to statement handles and premium architectural hardware, including Hendel & Hendel, Armac Martin and Häfele — or a completely handleless design using integrated pulls and push-to-open mechanisms.
Hardware, lighting and surfaces
The parts you do not immediately see matter as much as the parts you do. Good hardware is what keeps doors and drawers feeling solid years later.
Blum hardware
Soft-close concealed hinges, premium drawer systems, push-to-open mechanisms, internal pull-outs and handleless systems, giving doors and drawers a smooth, controlled movement.
Häfele hardware and lighting
Concealed LED strip lighting, illuminated shelving, wardrobe and display lighting, with switches, sensors, dimming or smart control. Channels, diffusers and wiring are designed in from the start so cables stay hidden.
Solid surface, quartz and granite
Premium worksurfaces for home bars, utility and boot rooms, dressing rooms, window seating, media furniture and home offices, fabricated by experienced specialists so the surface integrates properly with the furniture.
British and local suppliers
Board suppliers, cutting and edging specialists, professional spray finishers, worktop fabricators and hardware suppliers, mostly UK-based. It gives us more control over quality and lets us react quickly when a project needs something unusual.
Brands we work with
Alongside these we work with British and local board suppliers, spray finishers, worktop fabricators and handle makers, and we are not tied to any one range.
Almost unlimited choice
Although we regularly work with Egger, Blum and Häfele, we are not tied to one manufacturer or catalogue. If you have seen a particular timber, colour, texture, handle, worktop or decorative panel you would like to use, we are happy to explore it.
Materials we work with include painted MDF, decorative MFC, real wood veneers, solid timber, natural wood finishes, slatted and fluted panels, mirrors, glass, metal detailing, solid-surface materials, quartz, granite and specialist decorative finishes — often several combined in one design.
Built around your project
We do not make your ideas fit a predetermined range of furniture. We design around your room, your requirements and the look you want, then specify the materials, finishes and hardware that will produce that result.
During the design stage we can show you samples and talk through colours, textures, handles, internal finishes, timber, lighting, hardware and worksurfaces, so you can see how it all works together before anything is manufactured.
Where the sprayed finishes work best
Professionally sprayed finishes give a smooth, consistent, refined surface, and suit wardrobe doors, media walls, alcove furniture, home offices, dressing rooms, cabinetry, decorative panelling, shelving and bespoke drawer fronts.
We can also discuss sheen levels and finish types depending on the style of the room and how the furniture will be used — from a subtle matt neutral through to deeper statement colours, contemporary greiges, warm earthy tones or more traditional painted finishes.
Your questions answered
Can I have any colour I want?
Effectively, yes. As well as Egger’s standard decors, furniture can be supplied unfinished and professionally spray finished in virtually any suitable colour, including a match to an existing paint colour in your home.
Is it all MDF and board, or real wood?
Both, depending on the design. Decorative boards are hard-wearing and consistent; real timber and veneers bring grain and character that a manufactured finish cannot replicate. Many projects combine the two.
What hardware do you use?
Blum for hinges and drawer systems, and Häfele for specialist hardware and lighting, with handles from a wide range of suppliers including Hendel & Hendel and Armac Martin.
Can I see samples before deciding?
Yes. During the design stage we bring relevant samples and go through colours, textures, handles, internal finishes, lighting and worksurfaces with you.
Do you use British suppliers?
Wherever practical. Alongside internationally recognised brands we work with UK board suppliers, cutting and edging specialists, spray finishers, worktop fabricators and hardware suppliers, and specialist local trades.
Can you include lighting in the furniture?
Yes, and it works best designed in from the beginning rather than added later. Options include concealed LED strips, illuminated shelving, wardrobe and display lighting, with switches, sensors, dimming or smart control.
