Designed around your bedroom.

Wardrobes for awkward spaces

Sloping ceilings, alcoves and unusual bedroom shapes do not have to remain unused. Bespoke wardrobe design starts with the room you have and explores how its less straightforward spaces could work harder.

Based in Bromsgrove, Stuart Crawford brings over 10 years of industry experience to homes across Worcestershire and the surrounding region.

Your room is the starting point

Work with the shape of your room

Different parts of an awkward space may suit different kinds of storage. Taller areas may offer hanging space, while lower or narrower sections may be better suited to shelves or drawers. Access and usable depth are considered throughout.

Sloping ceilings

Explore a wardrobe layout that responds to a changing ceiling height. The slope affects both the front of the furniture and the storage that can work behind it.

Alcoves & recesses

A recess may offer useful fitted storage. We consider its dimensions, wall condition and surrounding details before deciding how the furniture should sit within it.

Uneven or unusual layouts

Older rooms and irregular shapes need careful consideration. The proposed design should respond to the actual dimensions and practical limitations of the space.

Storage with a clear purpose

A tailored fit is only useful if the contents remain accessible. We discuss what each part of the wardrobe will hold and how you will reach it.

Show us the shape of the space

The first conversation helps us understand the room and what you want to change. Any photographs or rough measurements are useful starting points; the design and specification are agreed around the actual space.

Useful details to share

  • Take photographs from more than one angle.
  • Include ceiling slopes and changes in wall depth.
  • Note access panels, sockets and features that must remain reachable.
  • Tell us what standard furniture has failed to solve.

Finish the design your way

Discuss knobs, handles, lighting and internal fittings alongside your furniture. These details affect how the wardrobe looks and works, and can be considered with the other finishes in your bedroom.

Your questions answered

Can you fit wardrobes beneath a sloping ceiling?

We can explore a design for a sloping ceiling. The height, depth and access will determine what is practical, so the final layout needs to be assessed for your room.

Will every part of the space be usable?

Some areas may be too shallow, low or difficult to access for useful storage. We will discuss these limits and focus the design on space that will work in everyday use.

What finishes can I choose from?

Painted, sprayed and timber finishes are all available, along with a range of handles and internal fittings. We go through the options in the room itself during the design visit, where you can see them in the actual light.

How disruptive is the installation?

Fitting is done room by room and the space is protected while we work. Most single-room projects are installed in a few days, and we tidy as we go rather than leaving it all to the end.

Can lighting be built into the furniture?

Yes — internal lighting and sensor-operated strips can be designed in. It is worth raising early, because it affects how the carcassing is built and where cabling needs to run.
