Bespoke fitted furniture

Bespoke Fitted Furniture, Edgbaston

If you are looking at fitted furniture in Edgbaston — one of Birmingham’s most established residential districts, much of it within conservation areas — we design it, manage the making of it and see it installed. Local housing runs to Georgian and Victorian villas, mansion flats and substantial later houses, and each room gets measured and drawn from scratch.

We work from Bromsgrove, an easy run in towards Birmingham. Design, specification and project management are ours, and the making is done by specialist manufacturing partners we have used for years. The first visit costs nothing.

Where fitted furniture works best

These are the pieces we are asked for most often. All of it is designed around the room rather than assembled from standard sizes.

Fitted wardrobes and dressing rooms

Hanging, drawers and shelving planned around what you actually own, in a run of fitted wardrobes or a full walk-in dressing room. Edgbaston has a good deal of Georgian and Victorian villas, mansion flats and substantial later houses, so the interior is planned around the room’s real dimensions.

Media walls and sitting room joinery

Purpose-built media walls with ventilation for equipment, concealed cable runs and storage sized for what actually lives in the room.

Fitted home offices

Fitted desks and storage for a dedicated room, or a home office built into a bedroom or living space so it can be closed away at the end of the day.

Bookcases, alcoves and cabinetry

Bookcases and alcove cabinetry scribed to the wall line, along with the smaller pieces — window seats, shoe storage, understairs cupboards — that quietly make a house work.

Fitted around your Edgbaston home

Edgbaston’s period rooms tend to have real height and generous proportions, along with original cornicing and shutters worth working around rather than over. Fitted furniture here is as much about respecting what is already there as adding storage.

No two rooms measured the same

Georgian and Victorian villas, mansion flats and substantial later houses rarely give you a level floor or a true corner. We work to the measurements we take on the day, which is why fitted work sits properly where off-the-shelf units leave a gap. Harborne, Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks are all close by, and you can see every one of the areas we cover we cover.

What to expect

Nothing is ordered before you have seen drawings and a written quotation. The visit and the measuring are free, and we manage the making and the installation from start to finish.

Your questions answered

Will fitted furniture damage original features?

It should not. We design around cornicing, picture rails, shutters and fireplaces, and can finish work so it reads as part of the room. If a property is listed or in a conservation area, check what consent is required before starting.

Can you match a high Victorian ceiling?

Yes. Floor-to-ceiling designs can follow the room’s height and pick up existing mouldings at the top, which usually looks far better than leaving a gap above the wardrobe.

How do I get started?

Get in touch through the contact form or by phone and we will arrange a design visit at a time that suits. The visit is free and there is no obligation to proceed.

Can you work with a room that is still being decorated?

Yes, and the order matters. It is usually best to fit the furniture before the final decorating so any making good is covered, but we will talk through the sequence for your project.

What finishes can I choose from?

Painted, sprayed and timber finishes are all available, along with a range of handles and internal fittings. We go through the options in the room itself during the design visit, where you can see them in the actual light.
